YOUR
GROWTH IS HIDDEN WHERE YOU ARE CHALLENGED
Life
is sometimes like a hill. As you walk, your breath gets short and you get
tired. Sometimes you even say, “Enough! I can't go on anymore”.
It
appears so unbearable in your eyes that you want to give up. However, it is
exactly those moments that determine your direction... Those moments when you
are stuck between continuing and quitting... Those moments of decision shape
your future. Every hill pushes you... But that is not its purpose. It's not there to push you, it's there to
lift you up. Because it is when you fall that you learn how much you can rise.
Once
upon a time there was a young carpenter. He would spend hours in his tiny
workshop full of hardwood. During those hours, he put not only his hands but
also his soul into his work.
But
his work did not always go well. As life doesn't always go smoothly... In fact,
this was the norm, but the carpenter didn't look at it that way. He was disappointed with every failure he
faced, with every customer he lost.
There
were many nights when he thought, “Maybe I can't do this job.”
Then
he realized that every night leads to a morning. He put the thought of giving
up out of his mind. On those nights, he started figuring out what he would do
in the morning, and in the morning he got up and tried again.
Because
the best way to learn was through mistakes. The carpenter understood this. With every difficulty there was an easiness.
At the end of every mistake, there was a learning for the eyes that looked carefully.
One
day he was offered a big project. It was bigger, more complex and difficult
than he had ever done in his life. He had received similar offers before but
had turned them down.
He
thought for days about whether to accept the offer or not. “I can't do this
job,” he said to himself. But a voice inside him whispered, “Remember,
you grow where you struggle.”
He
listened to that voice and said, “Okay.” He knew it would not be easy, but
he was willing to put in the effort to overcome those difficulties and the ease
that would follow.
As
he expected, things got more difficult as the project progressed. The wood did
not take the shape he wanted. The plans didn't go according to the initial
plans.
But
every problem brought a lesson. When a piece broke, he found a more durable
solution. When he made a mistake, he was more careful not to make it again.
He
worked patiently for days and weeks. Calluses formed on his hands, he had
sleepless nights, but he did not give up. Because this project was not just a
job for him. It was a challenge where he tested his own limits.
Months
later, when the project was completed, he couldn't believe it. It was not only
a beautiful work. It was also a reflection of his courage, determination and
patience.
While
others admired the work, he was seeing things that others could not see. In
every detail, in every texture, there were traces of his struggle.
That
day the carpenter was once again sure. It wasn't easy achievements that truly
elevated a person. It was faith and effort in difficult moments. Whenever he faced a difficult climb in his
life, he remembered that project. The most meaningful victories came at the end
of the toughest struggles. Carpenter clung to this truth.
The
Experiential Design Teaching states: “Every good is hidden behind a
challenge.”
Everyone's
story can have such periods in life. The burden of life sometimes gets heavy.
Instead of being crushed under that burden, we learn to lift it. It is exactly
in these moments that our story that makes us grow and make us strong is
written. Every challenge is an opportunity to reshape people, an invitation to
discover their limits. When those limits are pushed, people realize their true
strength. Behind every success lies a struggle with tears, a story of not
giving up and a silent struggle with oneself.
Sometimes
one may want to give up, sometimes one may get tired. But one must remember
that the rise of man is hidden in the places where he falls. Thus each person
writes his own story as he climbs his own hill.
We
hope to write stories that we can look back on and say, “I was challenged,
but I did it!”
Experiential Design Teaching is a knowledge community that produces strategies for
designing our future based on past experiences.
