KEEP SWIMMING
The
figs had not yet grown, but it was the hottest days of summer. It was hot
during the day, that's okay, but it was even hotter at night. The air was never
cool. High concrete buildings vomited out the heat of the sun all day at night.
Moreover, since those buildings blocked all the wind, the leaves were not
moving.
Mehmet
had watched one of his favourite cartoons with his brother the night before. At
this age, probably due to the effect of the heat, Dorry, the blue fish in the
film, had been a guest in his dream.
"Keep
swimming... Keep swimming..."
Although
everyone loved Nemo, Mehmet's favourite character in the film "Finding
Nemo" was the optimistic Dorry. He always made him laugh a lot.
He
wiped the sweat from his temples and sat up in bed. His pyjamas were soaked.
"What
swimming? We are stuck in a tiny room in this heat." he said. The
window was open but it did not help. His brother in the next room woke up to
the rattling,
-
Bro!... he called out, opening the door.
-
Dorry was in my dream last night. "Keep swimming," he tells me. It
was nice to be a fish in this heat.
-
Oh, bro! Good morning to you too!
Mehmet
never liked hot weather. He couldn't get up, he didn't feel like going out.
According to him, the summer months should not be a time of work, but a time
for sightseeing, eating and drinking, in other words, a time of holiday. Since
his father was working, they could go on holiday only for a short time, at
least he wished the house was cooler. If he could, he would travel having a
special air conditioner installed in his pockets. Oh, this heat was destroying
him...
Mehmet
used to go to his father's office in the summer. He could not understand his
father's dedication and discipline. "He doesn't get tired of going to
work every day. How can he work in this heat? I think work should stop in the
summer and everyone should take a holiday." As much as he did not
understand his father, his father did not understand Mehmet.
"What
will become of this child, he thinks he will spend a lifetime lying down. He
can't get hard at all, look at the weather in summer, cold in winter, rain in
spring. He can't do anything at his age. But when it comes to having fun, there
is no one more eager than him!"
Mehmet's
father knew what would alleviate his son's complaint. "Work..."
That's why he tried to get him to do as much work as possible in the office.
Cargo work, packing, warehouse counting, cleaning, filing, answering phones,
photocopying... That's why every summer, when he first came to the office, his
complaining sentences started to diminish over time, just as they say,
"Touch one, hear a thousand."
"Don't
ask, brother. How can I be in this weather? We've been scorched! But today,
thank God, we finished the organisation of the warehouse"
In
fact, complaining is one of the biggest obstacles in realising one's true
potential. Although human beings act according to the comparisons they have
created according to their own norms, the potential of human creation is much
more. We can all be one of those people who break world records or exhibit
behaviours that humanity will admire. As long as we have strong reasons for it
and the determination to keep going on the path.
Experiential
Design Teaching says: When you're doing big
things, you're guaranteed to slip. What you do now is important. But the amount
of slipping is less than the amount of lowering oneself down.
Therefore,
it is not the difficulties that one should focus on in one's life, but to
continue on one's way despite everything.
Experiential
Design Teaching says: If you are
demotivated, don't let go. If you have been wronged, don't let it go. Do something else.
Because
every job we continue despite its difficulty becomes enjoyable for us over
time. A person who cannot enjoy production, drags his life into darkness with
laziness and sloth; as he consumes and stops his movements.
Although
we believe that getting everything we want will make us happy, human beings are
insatiable.
Even
if he gets everything he wants, he will always find something to complain
about. Even when you go on your most desired holiday, something may be missing.
Either the waiter, the food, the sea, the lift or the weather can definitely be
stuck on something. Therefore, it is very easy to find things to complain about
in life. The point is to be able to continue paddling on the path we set out
on, whether the water is cold, wavy or too windy.
Only
in this way can we unlock our true potential and reach the highest version of
ourselves.
So
come on, "Keep swimming!“
