Better Than Yesterday 

Who doesn't want to be better than who he was yesterday? Isn't our rushing around and constantly increasing daily stress all for the sake of making things better than before?

Don’t we all wish to have a better home, a better education for our children, and pursue higher-quality consumption? With each passing day, the value of our money has decreased and our earnings are not enough anymore, but our cravings do still increase. We find ourselves running from one place to another bewildered about how to catch up with our current life.

Although everyone's priorities may change, the options are limited. In our list of must-haves, some of us prioritize tangible needs while others prioritize abstract ones. But we all prioritize something. Because if we're still breathing, it means we want something and will act in its direction.

Which should be our priority?

Can a person's well-being be measured by good physical conditions and good mental health? Or by the resources a person owns?

Can we truly be happy by buying or consuming more despite all the depressive situations, internal dissatisfactions, and emotional confusion we experience? Perhaps only a moment... It fades away almost immediately and a new desire to purchase or consume arises. Yet, we find ourselves rolling in this vicious cycle. The interesting part is that we believe it should be this way because we don’t agree when otherwise is argued. We start whining like children whose toys have been taken away and start searching for other ways of finding satisfaction.

When feeling unhappy we instantly fall back on the things that made us feel happy. Some people have developed their own methods to cope with difficulties, while others try to relax and find happiness within their owned resources. These escapes may be enjoyable at the beginning but after a while, they can turn into a kind of an addiction.

Whatever we do,

·        When we make it powerful,

·        When we make it essential,

·        When we say we can't live without it,

·        When we can't do the opposite,

·        When we pay a high price,

·        When we compromise our fear of losing increases.

If it's a material escape method, that is dependent on these resources, we may undertake even greater burdens to not lose it.

We are surrounded by people who almost have everything and yet are unhappy. They may have dedicated their nights and days to achieve their desired outcomes. When we observe their faces, we see that:

·        A small smile,

·        A little joy of life,

·        The ability to be patient,

·        The ability to be happy with small things,

·        The ability to listen to others,

·        The desire to pay a price misses.

But why? Because it is our inner world, our abstract self that we always postpone for the sake of the opportunities we pursue with greed.

Who am I really?

"Who am I?"

"What am I doing?"

"Am I truly happy?"

"What is real my life purpose?"

"What is my goal?"

"What do I really want?"

"Are my problems real problems?"

"And how long will I continue to live like this?"

We do not ask ourselves these questions...

Without stopping for a moment, even without slowing down, we continue to live at full speed. When we slow down, we think life is slipping away through our fingers. Sometimes life doesn't allow it. We work long hours and make decisions without thinking "Is it right or wrong?". Sometimes even when we face critical moments, we make unquestioned, overrushed, and superficial decisions. And afterward, we pay a price for these choices.

When we look back, we can say, "How could I make such a choice?". When problems escalate, we are forced to think but often it is too late.

When we don’t consciously decide to give up something or don't make conscious decisions, we are trapping ourselves. The best solution is, before making critical decisions and before problems arise, to do this;

·        Slow down a little bit and stop hurrying,

·        Think,

·        Ask ourselves questions,

·        Know ourselves,

·        Try to find our real-life goal.

What do we really need?

It has been a long time since we thought about our real needs... People think this is an outcome of these modern times. Perhaps they are right. Time, space, and facts one by one all have undergone a change of meaning. We chose to be passive. As we couldn't make sense of all these, we surrendered to our feelings. Maybe we are aware, maybe not... Those who are not aware need to stop and think and those who are aware need to strengthen themselves. When alone no one dares. Neither to question nor to transform...

If we started this road to end up somewhere, shouldn't we also enjoy the journey? In the tangible sense, we seem to have completed everything. What about the abstract senses? Peace, happiness, family... Have we approached these? It seems like something is missing in our lives. If we have postponed thinking about it until now and came across this article it means, it's time to take action.

There are no coincidences in life...

How about stopping for a moment and consciously concentrating on yourself? Maybe the missing pieces will fall into place... Perhaps you won't struggle as much with solving problems, won't make wrong choices, and will start living life more comfortably. Comfort doesn’t lie in our material possessions, it's hidden in our skills.
